Basal cell carcinoma is generally recognized as being the most common form of skin cancer.
Individuals with a history of frequent exposure to the sun or those with fair skin are at high risk for the development of basal cell carcinoma.
Basal cell carcinoma can present as a reddish patch on the skin, a non-healing open sore or even as a white or yellow patch on the skin that resembles a scar.
Squamous cell carcinoma is also associated with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Squamous cell carcinoma tumors most frequently appear on sun-exposed parts of the body, such as the ears and arms.
Squamous cell carcinoma frequently present as a scaly red patch that may be crusty or sometimes bleeds.
Squamous cell carcinoma may also present as a “wart-like” lesion that may also bleed or frequently may increase in size.
